Skills and routines
Things Spekko™ knows how to do, and how to have him do them on a schedule.
Skills
A skill is something Spekko knows how to do from start to finish. Some come built in:
- Pay a bill
- Reorder a household item
- Plan a weekend away
- Find a gift under a budget
- Weekly budget check
- Morning rundown
- Set up a SwiftUI app
He learns more from you. After he finishes a job you'll want again, say "save that as a skill". After he teaches you something with Teach me, you can choose Save as a skill too. Next time, just ask for it by name.
You can forget any skill you taught him. Built-in ones stay.
Routines
A routine is a skill, or any ask, on a schedule. Say it the way you'd say it to a person:
- "Every Friday at 5, check my budget and tell me if anything looks off."
- "Every weekday at 8, give me the morning rundown."
- "On the first Monday of the month, remind me to pay rent."
- "Every other week, reorder coffee, until December."
He understands weekly, hourly and monthly schedules, the first or last weekday of a month, every other week, end dates, and skipping holidays.
Times
Routines run on the home computer's clock. "At 5" means 5 pm, and a bare 1 to 6 is read as the afternoon. Say "am" if you mean the morning.
Pause or delete
Ask him to pause a routine, or switch it off in the list, and turn it back on any time. Deleting removes it for good.
Share skills and routines
You can export the skills you taught him and your routines as one file, and import it into another Spekko (yours on a new computer, or a friend's).
- Importing checks the file first and tells you what it will add and what it skipped.
- It never runs anything: imported routines arrive paused until you turn them on.
- Importing the same file again updates what's there instead of making copies.
Only import files from people you trust.
